Comments/ Reviews:

Installation is easy, but, as the other review says, it you drop it or fumble it, the spring will come out. It's easy to put back in and there is no damage, BUT look it over and take a picture so when it happens, putting it back will be easy. There are three screw holes. March the holes, predrill to prevent wood from cracking and then screw into place - nothing too it really. The tricky part is just icing up things.

The great thing about this latch is when the post settles a bit with each spring thaw, this latch accounts for any vertical movement, and it grips the door well.

Good product with terrible instructions
I just bought this to replace a gate deadbolt that kept needing alignment. But installing this was ridiculous. So if you are reading this, be very careful not to drop it, because when I did, 2 springs and 2 pieces of plastic went flying and I didn't know what all the pieces were. Took me a good while to figure out how to reassemble it. And the instructions are totally useless.

Here's how to reassemble it should you experience the same problem:
1. Big spring attaches to bottom where there are two screw holes.
2. There is a plastic insert that goes in the middle and divides the springs.
3. Small spring attaches on tiny hole in plastic insert, and the other end connects to the latch which gives it the spring to close.
4. Top plastic insert is like a top cover and you screw through that and the backplate.

After messing with it for awhile, I went back outside to search for possible missing pieces. For me, it was the piece in step #2. Then it came together for me.

Difficult install
By far the most durable part of this product is the packaging it comes in, so be prepared to devote a significant portion of your install time to getting it out it's plastic, and the subsequent bandaging of your hands from said plastic. The screws that come with this product are made of metal with a butter-like hardness so expect to strip at least a couple. The product itself falls apart if not held together until install is complete, so make sure to work in an area where having springs flying everywhere is not an issue.
Once installed the product works as expected.
